New funding for the SPSC community

As we move through 2024, South Park Senior Center is excited to share the remarkable progress we’ve made in our fundraising and grant-seeking efforts. Taking new strategic approaches, SPSC is deepening our relationships with current donors, finding new partners, and securing new and renewed grant funding. Our collective efforts have not only bolstered our financial stability but have also enabled us to expand our offerings, ensuring that we continue to meet the diverse needs of our senior community with excellence and compassion. Here’s a closer look at some of the milestones achieved and the exciting developments underway.

Liberty Mutual & Safeco Insurance Fund became a new funding partner for SPSC through a first-time grant. The Liberty Mutual & Safeco Insurance Fund deeply values the communities where their employees live and work and providing accessibility for people of all abilities, which perfectly aligns with SPSC! Thanks to this funder, SPSC has gained new support for our community meals, social services, and enrichment programs.

Lyft renewed funding to SPSC for a second time, making it possible for us to provide roundtrip rides for seniors requiring transportation assistance to our meal program. Lyft created the Racial Justice Alliance Grant to help reduce transportation barriers for communities across the nation and SPSC is honored to partner with Lyft through this initiative.

Pacific Hospital & Preservation Development Authority (PHPDA) is a new funding partner for SPSC! PHPDA funds efforts to improve health equity in King County and they chose to support SPSC’s efforts to connect seniors to medical care for untreated health conditions. Together, PHPDA and SPSC will enhance the wellness of so many seniors while building their confidence in navigating local health care systems.

Government Funders have also stepped up to the plate for SPSC. The King County Veterans, Seniors, and Human Services Levy recently granted SPSC multi-year operating support for 2024 to 2026. The City of Seattle awarded SPSC a new grant that will begin in January of 2025 to provide Lyft/taxi rides and transit passes for seniors to take round trips to our Center for the meal program and to complete other necessary appointments.

We are thrilled at the new opportunities these grant awards present for SPSC and the seniors we serve! Our advancement efforts are just beginning and we can’t wait to see where we will be by the end of 2024!
