Rainbow Disrupt Con

posted in: SeniorAdventure

We had the wonderful opportunity to attend the first ever Rainbow Disrupt Con on Monday October 2nd. Many thanks to one of our own Seniors who heard about this and shared it with the leadership team of SPSC.

This event was a wonderful opportunity to delve deeper into the work we are striving to do to be an all inclusive Senior Center for people of all races, cultures, gender identities, sexual orientations, abilities and more. The global population is getting more and more Queer by the generation – based on the growth within previous decades, we know in just a matter of 10-15 years over 6% of seniors could be identifying as bisexual, with an even higher percentage identifying somewhere else along the LGBTQIA+ spectrum.

We are beyond grateful to Jarvis and his team for creating this learning space for so many. Thank you to the incredible speakers who took the time to engage with everyone, not just during your presentation, but afterwards as well. This event was completely free and ensured accessibility to everyone – a huge win for anyone on a restricted income. Finally, thanks to the Seattle Art Museum for hosting this wonderful event, and we look forward to many more years of Rainbow DisruptCon!
