The wait has been a long one, but finally we are able to provide full programming at the Senior Center—Community Dining, Dance, Karaoke, Bingo and Loteria, Zumba, and EnhanceFitness—and our Seniors are back!
I am so happy to share that our reopening has ensured the measures needed to keep everyone safe. To date, there have been no Covid outbreaks among our Seniors and Staff—with that, we will continue to require full vaccinations, including boosters, for participation, as well as masks. As we recognize the shift within our State to decrease Covid requirements, SPSC will now only require one mask instead of two, and we have increased our participation numbers from 32 people for each activity to 40 people—this is the progress we’ve all been waiting for!
As SPSC reopened, we moved right into a new program, Culture Focus, providing the opportunity to learn about and experience the cultures within our region, celebrate our diversities, and to find our common bonds. The month of February highlighted the Vietnamese culture and included a Lunar New year celebration (with a Dragon Dance!), a Vietnamese Poet, Calligrapher, professional dance troupe, jelly-cake demonstration, Senior story-sharing, language learning, Bầu cua tôm cá board games, and a field trip to the Vietnamese Cultural Center—the month was a great success and a wonderful way to welcome everyone back! We look forward to featuring Cambodian culture in the month of April.
As we are committed to keeping participant capacity to 40 people for each activity, please remember you need to have a reservation made for each time you plan to attend—this is important to be sure everyone has a seat, we have planned for the proper amount of meals, and that no one has to be turned away. Please see the guidelines below for how to make a reservation—thank you!
We look forward to seeing everyone at the Center; many of you haven’t made your way back since before the pandemic, but we are here, waiting, keeping it safe, and excited to have you—come on back!
